Last weekend I had another go at making croissants. With the help of my newly bought French bread and pastry book, I am beginning to master the difficult butter pastry quite well. I just wish I had an oven that I could control a bit more, than the one we have.
Anyway, one batch of sourdough croissant and pain au chocolat was made and then they were gone. We could not keep our hands of them for too long.

Coffee & Spring
Like already mentioned, there has been some nice sunny days here in Berlin during the month of March. On this one, we didn't turn on the heating at home, and I went for a walk and met Friederike at Herfurrplatz for a Coffee. We went to Lux where everything is covered in powder sugar, and sat in the window from where we enjoyed the sun while catching up.

Re-potting
My desk is not the only place that feels like spring at the moment. We have had a couple of really nice days here in Berlin and last weekend we bought soil for a session of serious re-potting.
We also got a very beautiful but most fragile cactus at the store. I manage to make it fall apart before I even re-potted it. I stuck the mini cacti into the soil in a second pot. Hopefully if they will make it.
The many red plants originally all came from one plant. One that I brought with me from London when I moved. It used to be in the window of my favorite café, and they sometimes cut it and sold the stems for one pound a piece. Since this plant grew as tall as a meter, but a couple of month ago we got an infestation of worms in the soil – one that we have fough against for the past year, and which sadly caused us to get rid of many green friends. Luckily this plant is so forgiving, so we decided to get rid of the soil and put all the stems into water, so they could grow roots. Now this plant is spreading to all over Berlin, as I am handing them out to all of our friends. Hopefully when their's get big enough they will share them too.

Spring On My Desk
Little signs of spring have started to show. Last week when we went for a walk I picked up some snowdrops to put on my desk. Next to them a have a bouquet of Tulips that I love watching go into bloom and change color and shape for as long as they are there. I sometimes feel bad throwing them out once they have died, as they are still so decorative. I will keep these here for another couple of days.

Workshop Visit - Line
Last time we were in Denmark we visited Line in her beautiful new workshop at Frederiksberg Allé. It is a shared space, and besides her many amazing jewelry pieces, there was another thing that caught me attention: an old book-press, still running and producing limited edition books. Sadly it wasn't in motion that day, but maybe I will get lucky next time.
Anyway. It is great to see that Line has been able to build a career out of something she loves to do. Very inspiring. If you wish to see her elegant jewelry, you should visit her website or take a walk down Frederiksberg Allé.

Birthday
As it often happens, my father came to town to celebrate his birthday with us. It was such a nice day, he has definitely behaved well this year (as they say in Denmark). It was perhaps the first day where it felt like spring, and after the almost obligatory birthday brunch – with sourdough Brunsviger – we went for a very long walk, to burn off some calories and enjoy the sun.
So many bushes had already started to show some green, plus all the little spring related flowers were popping up the ground. We walked along the canal and had a coffee at Concierge before starting to make our way back to home. In the end we dropped by the a new store around the corner, where we stocked up on craft beer so we could have a birthday toast.
