It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas

Yesterday morning, I woke up to a beautiful winter wonderland right outside the window. I was surprised to see that it had snowed during the night, but somehow really happy. It is exiting to show Fleur another aspect of nature, even if we were in the snow last year, she understands it so much more this year. Now she already had her first creaky walk through the snow and threw her first snowball. I hope the snow will stay for the next couple of days so that we'll have a white Christmas this year.

Svendborg

Svendborg was also not far away from the summerhouse, and quite a charming city I found. Not only was there a good atmosphere, lots of leben and old charming houses, but we also found a great bakery, where we went for bread and pastry several times during our one week stay. And here we also ended our stay, with a marzipan-bun and a cup of coffee before hitting back east to devils island.

Valdemar Slot

One afternoon in the overpowering heat - no clouds and no wind - we went to Valdemar castle, which was not too long a drive from the summerhouse. They had a surprisingly huge hunters collection with exotic animals from all over the world, and we spend a fair bit of time there in exile from the sun, but also made it down near the water and enjoyed the view while listening to people practise for an opera production.

Tivoli

No summer is a summer without a trip to Tivoli. My love for this place stays eternal and I can always find new things to enjoy when I visit. This year, what I enjoyed most was probably to take Fleur and spend a nice afternoon with her and the grandfathers, take her on the mary go round, and visit their packed playground. And of cause I love all the little details that I forgot was there or experience for the first time.

Åh Anemone

One of the things I've been missing for the past 8 years of living in the city is to see the small white anemones covering the forrest floor at the beginning of spring. For me, this white blanket has always defined the change of season. It let us know that winter is over and summer approaching. It was sheer luck that I got to see it this year, but I was happy and it made up for missing out on Sakura season in Berlin.
