A bit of Julehygge

The majority of December was spend being sick. In fact I think at least one person in our household has been sick every day of this month. Still I managed to sneak in a bit of Christmas hygge in those tiny windows of well being.

This year, I decided to try and bake spekulatius cookies and the first batch turned out really well. As always I made lussebullar for Lucia. Christmas and my urge to bake are somehow closely connected and this year I had a little helper by my side. (Wonder if she was trying to draw Santa on the table)

Juledage

The Christmas days are over and today we are taking a chill pill from all the fuss and fatty food. After two days of family gathering and a sometimes overexcited child, it is nice with a quiet day, where nothing is really happening.

Fleur made it through her first Christmas, probably without really knowing it was something special. But she enjoyed spending time with the grandparents and lots of smiles were given to everyone in the family. She took a fondness for nisser and Risalamande and didn't yet care too much for the tree or the presents.

Colourful Körnerpark

On the last of the warm fall days, we went to Körnerpark to enjoy the sun and work up a little tan before winter hibernation. Now there are no more short sleeves and bare feet this year. Instead we are getting out the hot cacao and blankets so we can instead engage in some winter hygge.

Konfekt weekend!

Making konfekt is for me a must Christmas doing. As a kid I did it together with my parents, and even after moving on my own I went back home to have a konfekt making afternoon with my mum. This year I decided to start the konfekt production early and therefore Vincent and I spend Sunday afternoon making five different kinds and thereby set the Christmas hygge into motion.

Last weekend I prepared all the marzipan, which is really easy as it is just made from nuts, water and sugar. It has been fun making everything completely from scratch and it is nice to have so many homemade goodies to eat throughout December.

Hope you all started the month in a joyfully manor.

Christmas Days!

As usually - in my family - Christmas is centered around a well made table, and doing the Christmas days we stuff ourselves with things we don't really eat the rest of the year.
Some of my favorite seasonal food is risalamande with cherry sauce (this year I helped picked the cherries) and gode råd. I also enjoy the fact that this one time a year it is okay to eat potato chips with dinner.
We had a great and hyggelig Christmas I hope it was the same for you.

Jule Tivoli!

There might not be a real Christmas without a trip to Tivoli... or at least it is hard to Imagine. For the past 15 years I have had a tradition with my father involving a trip to the same restaurant, eating the same dish, taking a walk in Tivoli and ending up at Glassalen watching the Crazy Christmas Cabaret.
This year is no different.

I really love Tivoli at Christmas, it is so dreamy with the many lights and because of the cold and all the clothes you have to wear it for some reason seems much more hyggeligt than the rest of the year. Here is how it looks in summertime.
