Last Day of The Year

On the last day of the year, I woke up to sun in our living room, which is quite unusual as it is facing north. But the windows one the other side of the street manage to catch the sun and project it into our place.

There was frost on the top of the roofs and a beautiful light in the whole apartment, and I made some pancake for the last brunch of the year.

Later we went to buy a couple of stuff with the rest of Berlin, who was getting ready to party, and I spend the afternoon baking.

In the evening we celebrated the new year with some friends in Weisensee and had a great start to 2017. I wish you all a happy New Year and hope that the next year will bring you joy and many happy moments.

Pizza Excess!

Since Vincent has taken of to the far east, to avoid the cold European climate I am currently living by myself.

Since I am a girl with economic sence and a new years resolution to produce less trash, living alone means eating less varied. All ingredients needs to be used before they go bad. I know now that a pack of yeast can make 6 pizzas. So within the last ten days I made pizza 4 times. Luckily you can always vary the topping and homemade pizza is really not to bad and also easy to make.

I used Jamie's pizza dough recipe and quartered it. Used among others shiitake mushrooms, sweet potatoes, homemade mint-pistachio pesto and savoyer ham. Although delicious I do think it will be a little while before I make pizza again.

Welcome to 2015

Once a new year begins, it is always quite natural to think about change. Is there anything one wants to change, something one wants to add or to disappear from one's life? Personally I must say that at the moment I am quite happy, if things remain as they are for a while. As you might have seen in my recap of 2014, a lot of things happened during last year, and I feel like it is time to stand a bit still and breath. Maybe center and have more focus on the things that are already happening.

Another new years must is resolutions. I talked about them before and this year I made one agreement with myself that I hope I will practice and am able to keep and continue. I decided to try and see if it is not possible to reduce the amount of waste I produce. I can already say it is not an easy task if I want to remain with the same lifestyle as before. There are indeed many of the products I use that comes rapped in something. Also January started with a bit of a cold and a box of Kleenex - I minor step back in my plan. But I think that, if I take small steps at a time, it will within the next year be possible for me to reduce the amount of waste I put in the trash significantly, just by thinking about which product I buy. I hope that next next new year, I can say that I did it and that in the end it was not so hard.

Speaking about New Years Resolutions.

This morning when I took an early walk through the almost empty streets of Berlin I noticed something new on one of my favorite walls and I wondered if it could be someones new years resolution written there in blue and yellow.
It made me think about my own new years resolutions. Not that I really have any, or remember if I had any for this year. If I did I am sure I did not fulfill them. Two years ago my resolution was to restart making my own humus, which I did. I like to keep things simple; stick to something that is manageable. The best resolution I ever had, was to give a compliment to someone else every day, because that was something that made both me and others happy.
For this year I have not had time to think about resolutions, but I have many hopes for the year to come. Many of which I shall not reveal right now, but one thing I can say is that first of all I hope that the last six months I will spend in London are gonna be great, exiting, busy and unforgettable.
