Happy New Year to everyone who still find their way to this blog from time to time. I haven't been the best blogger for the past couple of years and it seems more and more like I blog only about what I did months ago rather than right now. I have thought about ending my time as a blogger, but truth of the matter is that it's probably one of the only things that still keeps me taking photographs - even though many of them never make their way to this platform - and it's nice with so many photos to peruse when I feel like taking a walk down memory lane sometimes. So I'll continue for a while and see what time brings.
We had a lovely Christmas in Denmark and were so lucky to have a local white Christmas this year. The snow fell perfectly timed on the 22nd and 23rd. When I woke up on the 25th it was all gone. Vincent and I went for a walk on the 24th while Fleur was sleeping and the food was on the stove. It's been some years since we last walked in the snowy forest and it was nice to feel the crisp fresh air and have a bit of exercise before all the food.
Normally we don't really celebrate New Years eve, I find that the change between years is often overrated and these parties always end up disappointing. But this year we got a spontaneous and quite random dinner invitation and had the chance to spend the evening among brand new people without any expectations and ended up having such a nice evening with good food, champagne, talks, games and fireworks. It was a great entrance to this new year, that I hope will bring as many wonderful memories as the previous one. I wish for better health for our family in the wintertime, and already I look forward to spring.
Happy New Year.

Spring Sunday
Sunday was the first real spring day this year. In fact it was so warm, that we could wear our midseason jackets and had to dress down once we came out.
We took a walk down to Hermannplatz to go to the Photobooth - something we have done a bit more frequently since Fleur joined our lives. We ended up having to get two strips as she hardly made it on to the first one. In between we went to Jacobi - one of my new favourite coffee spots - and had sunday croissants. Lots of people were outside enjoying the sun and the first warmth.
In the afternoon we were at the playground and took a walk around Körner Park so Fleur cold use her newly acquired walking skills outside.

New Years Day
Happy New Years everyone. I hope you all had a safe and fun trip into 2018.
We came back from Denmark on the last day of 2017 and spend a quiet evening at home with a some good food and a movie. I was exhausted and must admit I went to bed before midnight even though there was a bottle of champagne waiting in the fridge. It is hard being on holidays. :) So I only vaguely saw the fireworks in the sky, but all the remnants were lying on the ground the next day.
The first of January was spend with a nice homemade brunch, then a walk and a trip to the playground.
I hope 2018 will be as good a year as 2017 with as many beautiful moments in the coming as in the past.

Saturdays
Our local Farmers Market has changed from a seasonal market to an all year long event. So every Saturday we go there to buy fresh veggies and once in a while other edibles. If is fits with Fleur's nap we usually go for a little walk as well. Like a couple of weeks ago when there were still some leaves on the trees, and it was damn cold and windy, we were happy that the nap didn't last too long, so we could cut the trip short.
Last weekend it started to snow just as we were at the Christmas market in the afternoon. It was almost a bit fairytale-like, but luckily it is still to warm for the snow to really settle. I hope we get on the opposite side of new years before any serious snow comes to town.

Yellow Indian Summer

Even though I love fall, I think we can all agree, that autumn is just nicer when the sun is shining. My usual nap-trip in the cemetery was a walk through rain of bright yellow leaves. Such a beautiful sight. I was thinking about how gathering all of these leaves must seem like an endless task for the people working there, but as soon as it starts raining they will turn into mud, so better remove them.
On days like this, I know why fall is my preferred season.
