Patterns Of Nantes - Part 1- Simple!

Everytime I walk around there are so many details on the houses and street. I really like it and I think that is what makes it exiting to walk the same streets, cause I constantly make new discoveries. 

Here are some of the simple patterns I found on my way around.

Out Discovering The City!

Even though Nantes is small it seems big when you don't know it. There is potentially something interesting  when I turn every corner and I discover nice looking houses, great colors, small cafes or other little details. This weekend was pretty warm and sunny, and it makes me hope that there will be no more of that tough winter. One can at least dream.
Even though I (like everyone else at the moment) am suffering from a cold which is very hard to get writ of, I decided to use the warmth to go a bit around and discover parts of the city where I haven't been so far. Sunday evening I went to "Ile de Nantes" for the first time and I will definitely go back in daylight.

That someone else is longing for warmer times as much as me.

Coming home to a mailbox full of stuff from wonderful friends.

Having a cup of tea and a beautifully wrapped croissant while watching a movie in bed.

Offline Mode!

I am trying to get used to the life without internet at home, and I must say that it is not too bad. I realize how much I can waste my time online sometimes, and it feels like the time I spend online now is much more efficient. Instead I am working on projects, getting to know the city by walking around taking photographs etc, and read in bed while drinking lots of tea. The books I brought wont last for the time I am here so I guess I have to get some more. I am trying out French reading as well, which is a lot of fun, but at the same time tiring.
Though I enjoy the simple life for now I am glad it wont last forever.

Another Week In Nantes!

I am still very much in the honeymoon face with Nantes, Every time I walk down the streets I am happy to be here. There is so many things to take in and inspiration. I still have a lot to discover, as I've been staying inside most of the time because of the coldness. The snow seems to stay away and yesterday I dared going out for a Sunday walk. But it is good to have something to look forward to exploring and that way maybe I will stay in Love with the place until I am leaving.

I am exited to see how much this little plant will grow while I am here.

An Unexpected Change In Weather!

I thought that I had seen the last of the snow this year, but yesterday morning when I woke up there was a yellow light in my bedroom and I thought to myself that it might had been snowing doing the night. I was right. Outside lay a thin layer of snow covering my balcony and all the other things I could see from there. It caused a bit of chaos in the morning trafic but the children I saw on my way to school were estatic.
I didn't brought proper winter clothes. For some reason I expected Nantes to be slightly warmer so I left my hat and mittens in London. So when the snow later was disappeared and only a small pile lay in front of my door as I returned home I didn't feel at loss and I somehow hope this will be the only time.

Graveyard!

Just a couple of pictures from my walk in the graveyard this weekend. I can't help but think there is something slightly romantic about the french graveyards with the little houses. It is so nice and silent there and colorful and I adore the little loan system where you can rent a shovel or a watering can.
I learned that Nantes is full of magnolia trees because the Americans brought them when they came doing the war. I can't wait for the beautiful sight of this at springtime.
