Paris 1

A month back, we went to Paris for a week to visit Vincents mom and introduce Fleur to the rest of the family. We came at just the right time and had great weather almost the entire week.

I had the change to spend an afternoon alone, trying to chase down some stuff for my winter wardrobe. Sadly I didn't really find anything, but it was still nice to take a stroll in the narrow streets and on the big boulevards in the city center.

Svendborg

Svendborg was also not far away from the summerhouse, and quite a charming city I found. Not only was there a good atmosphere, lots of leben and old charming houses, but we also found a great bakery, where we went for bread and pastry several times during our one week stay. And here we also ended our stay, with a marzipan-bun and a cup of coffee before hitting back east to devils island.

Valdemar Slot

One afternoon in the overpowering heat - no clouds and no wind - we went to Valdemar castle, which was not too long a drive from the summerhouse. They had a surprisingly huge hunters collection with exotic animals from all over the world, and we spend a fair bit of time there in exile from the sun, but also made it down near the water and enjoyed the view while listening to people practise for an opera production.

Tickon at Tranekær

We did a few outings during our stay at Tåsinge. One afternoon we went to Tickon in the park connected to Tranekær castle.

Some years ago, some artist were invited to do sculptures in the park. A bit similar to Wanås konst (That we visited a couple years ago). The difference is that at Tickon all the sculptures are made from organic material and will disappear over time. Some had already vanished or been broken down by the weather, but there was still some that are quite robust and will stay there for a long time.

It was a very warm day, so I am happy that we walked a lot in the shadow under the trees. Here we also found tiny raspberries, that were grabbed by tiny hands, and put into a tiny mouth. Afterwards we had an ice-cream at the old henhouse just on the opposite side of the road form the park and then it was time to go.

Sea

Having the seaside close by is such a luxury. Especially when it has been a warm summer like it was this year and you can actually go swimming in it - which in Denmark is not the case every year. One of the things I like best about going to the beach is the smell. The smell of warmth, sun-lotion and salty water on the skin, it reminds me of all the past summer holidays.

It was great to be able to take Fleur to the beach every day and play in the swallow water and build things in the sand. It made her so tired, that she often fell asleep in her pushchair on the short walk back to the summer house, and I had to carry her inside for her nap.
