A New Years Resolution Or Two?

The other day I was talking to Vincent about New Years resolutions and expectations for the New Year. I hadn't really though about anything until we started discussing it. Last year I made the resolution to start making my own hummus again after having had a lazy fall with ready made hummus from Tesco, and I have managed to do that. I can't remember if I did have another than that. I also don't remember what I expected of 2012 or what things I wanted to do, so I guess I am pretty satisfied with how things turned out now I have nothing to compare it with.
I don't really believe that much in making resolutions but one yeah I made one; to each day give a compliment to comeone else, which was actually nice cause it made me better at giving compliments and also made other people happy. So I thought that maybe the best New Years resolution is not about things you should do for yourself but what you could do for the people you care about. Sometimes it is even easier to do things for others than ourselves. I guess there is enough that could be added to that list and I still have to think about what I could do. But after having a think about it I decided that at least one resolution should be to try and procrastinate less. As for my plans and hopes for 2013. Hmm...
It seems a bit silly to say that I hope that it will be a good year and that I will have a nice time in France and hopefully get much better at talking French, but those are the things that are occupying my mind right now.
I know for sure that I will have to say goodbye to my friend Man as he has to leave London before I come back, and it is always sad to part. On the other hand it might give me the opportunity to visit him somewhere else at one point and travel to somewhere new is always exiting.
Here are a couple of random pictures that I took around the days of New Year.

For The Man Who Has Everything!

After being sick for a week and watching all the romcom film available to him, my friend Man has developed quite a man crush on Ryan Gosling. Therefore another friend of his gave him a present that I can't not let go without showing it to you.
The Ryan Gosling Coloring book. It is filled with a different Ryan from all the movies he played in.

Ryan looking cool on the cover

Ryan with no shirt on

Ryan looking slightly like Brad Pitt

Ryan as Lars And The Real Girl

In the Ides Of March

And some notes from the author.

I can't wait to see what it will look like with a bit of crayon. If you are a Ryan Gosling fan you can get your own version here.

Fish At The Break Of Dawn!

Yesterday morning we woke up very early to go to Billingsgate fish market. We were there at 5 o'clock with all the traders to get fresh fish for the weekend.
We ended up having oysters, eel, crab meat, scallops, scrimps, mackerel and salmon. We saw the sun rise and set together in a day where we had nothing to eat but fish. I have to admit that I still didn't have the guts to try the oysters, maybe it will come on day maybe it wont.
I ended up being awake for 20 hours in a row and am today still very tired, but it was definitely a nice thing to do together. In a way it felt like Christmas time, where the my whole family is gathered around the table for days just eating, talking and hanging out.

Last Days In London!

So today I kissed London goodbye and said hallo to Denmark. I've been quite busy the past couple of days, not only because I had to clean out the apartment, but also because I have been saying goodbye to some friends and enjoyed a lot of eating out.
Thursday I went to Railroad to have a nice goodbye brunch with Michael, who sadly will be going home to Australia before I'll be back in fall.
As always the coffee was good and for the first time I tried the food there.
Thursday was the warmest day of the yeah and Ice coffee seemed more appropriate, but this one was really cute.
Everytime I am at Railroad my eyes fancy a piece of the rosewater pistachio cake, I am yet to try it. It is nice to have something to come back to.

Friday after handing over the keys I went to a yet unexplored part of London. Earls Court where I went for a walk in Old Brompton Cemetery and after  walked to south Kensington where I caught a bus to the center and visited a couple of galleries. Then I headed back to Man's apartment where I was spending my last night in town.

This morning we went to St. Ali to get some great brunch and nice strong coffee. It was needed after all the running around and lack of sleep the past couple of days.

and just before I said goodbye I had to go for one last great London coffee. I shall miss them for the next couple of months.

Coffee and Books!

I am currently reading "A Lovers Discourse" by Roland Barthes, and even though it is worth the trouble I find myself asking why it has to be so hard to read philosophy.
So some of the weekend I spend sitting at a cafe reading.
I also had time to meet up with friend and go for walks.

Ever since I discovered this little pony collection, I could not wait to I had my camera so I could take a picture. Very cute.
