Back to Berlin!

Today I felt like I went home for a while, or at least to a very familiar place. I went together with Michael to an art gallery to see the German Street artist EVOL, and his miniature models of Berlin's "Plattenbauen" made of street storage units and on to old cardboard boxes. It really brought me back to Friedrichshain and it was great seeing it with someone who also use to live in Berlin, and knows all the little details that signifies Berlin. It was quiet impressive how lifelike they were, the shadows, reflections everything and now I really can't wait to go back.

Bummer!

Right now I am slightly bitter that I chose to go back to Denmark on Monday, when I booked my plane tickets a couple of months ago. Especially because someone very special is playing a X-mas show tonight at my favorite venue in Copenhagen. Sadly you can't be everywhere at once, so Tonight I guess I have to settle for this.

The Street Art Battle!

Something made me laugh today. As I was trying to escape the coldness of my apartment I biked to Hackney Wick to get a Coffee at The Counter Cafe while working on some texts.
I am a big fan of street art, especially the intelligent kind. Because it is so accessible and yet so hidden that every time you come across something you like you feel like you discovered a little treasure.
The first wall made me smile, the second made me laugh, and what is it they say? One laugh a day....

Getting Into The Christmas Spirit!

Today I did a couple of Christmas things. First I went out to due some Christmas shopping. And this afternoon I finally build my IKEA "Pepperkaka hus" that I bought a month ago.

First unwrapping
Then icing
Glue together
Now the foundation is ready
How to attach the chimney
I must admit that I am no icing pro, but it turned out okay. Now it is done and spreading it's pepparkaka scent in the kitchen

The Sound of Bore and Grief!

Now it is really getting cold, and today all I really wanted was to stay inside and hide in my bed. Vincent and I desided to defy the weather and go to south London to see an exhibition.
First we went to Happy Kitchen, a nice little cafe right underneath London Fields station. We got some soup to get heated up before continuing.

After that we went to Danille Arnaud Gallery, which is in a private home. Here we saw installations by artist Louisa Fairclough. First was different 16 mm film machines, one portraying a woman, the other emptiness and we heard the song of Bore and Grief

On the first floor was a room with drawings, a record player and two speakers. A note told us to lay down on the carpet while listening. So we put the pickup to the record, lay down, hand in hand and swam away tho the sound of church bells and waves. Definitely worth going out for.

The First Thursday!

First Thursday of every month East London Galleries open their doors during the evening. And people are gallery hopping for 3 hours. This is a great chance to se a lot of the things you would normally never go to see and meet up with people and drink some wine.

As it is with art there are both good and bad things to see. Sometimes you discover something really different that makes an impressions, which is what happened to me yesterday.
These creepy children dolls made by William Marriott was the best thing all evening. They were life size figures, who had grease in their hair and were sewn together with big stitches. They were not pleasant to look at. In fact they were quite disturbing. It was almost like a traffic accident where you can't help but look even though you rather want to look away.
