Helle's Home!

Helle lives in one of the many old charming Brownstone houses, in an apartment with crooked wavy floors, high celings and plenty of light.

It felt so nice and homey there, that it was difficult to leave it behind.

Something Resembling Suburbia!

On a very cold but sunny day we went to the outskirts of Brooklyn. First we took the subway to Brigthon Beach. Here we walked on the pier and saw a closed Coney Island. It was quite amazing to walk on an almost empty pier and see the beach lie desolate. I definitely would like to go there at summertime to see it full of life.

Later we took a walk through a part of Kensington and ended up in Green Point late afternoon looking for a shop that turned out not to be open. Luckily it's never too much of a bother when you are just on holiday.

New York Coffee!

Speaking of coffee, I had my fair share of coffee while running around New York. I quickly learned that in order to get anything remotely strong I had to order a cortado, otherwise it was always very milky.

That said New York had so many nice cafes, and we didn't even try half of the ones we wanted to. A few of the ones that we tried and really liked was Milk Bar and Sun Shine Co. where we also got the awesome french toast with cream and orange. Yum.

When It Rain It Pours!

When one a holiday that requires a lot of walking around, rain is the ultimate enemy. We had our fair share of grey sky and rain while visiting New York. Luckily mostly doing the weekend, where we could relax at home with Helle, while she was of work.

On Saturday we went out for brunch, then coffee, then grocery shopping and then back home where we made warm chocolate and then dinner. Rainy days are dedicated to food and relaxation. Not to bad, I must say.

Sunday Walk Through Brooklyn!

Sunday we took a long walk through Brooklyn. It was funny to see the contrast of all the young people brunching in trendy cafes and the Jewish community who were just starting their week. We ended up on the Manhattan bridge which was quite a windy walk but with a great view over the streets of Brooklyn.
