The Chaming Colorful City!

Throughout our time in New York we have been walking so much around, it is just so nice to wander the streets and take all of the impressions of the city in. My feet will continue to be soar for the next couple of days.

I find the architecture has similarities to that of London, though the brownstones are so much more charming than London townhouses. There is also much more color, which somehow makes it easier to grab hold of the camera and take pictures. I especially appreciate the yellow light curves that seem to appear in so many of the photos I took. Easy activity while you are waiting to cross traffic, reaching down your bag and grab hold of the camera.

Photomaniacs!

Like me, Mellie also loves to take photographs, so we went on quite a photoadventure while I was in Budapest. She told me that behind all the doors there are secret and amazing looking courtyards, so every time we got the chance to go inside we took it.

Bookbinding!

Since the new term started, I have been spending a lot of time in the bookbinding workshop. Not simply because I want to improve my skills, but also as it is a really meditative activity. I have spend so much time with my head barried in books and sitting in front of the screen while writing my dissertation and doing my other work, and it feels really good to start in the morning and then go home with something in the evening.

Today I used the time making two books, both binded in dark blue velvet, which is a color I really feel in love with while doing it because of the light reflecting surface. One was a little photo-book and the other a simple notebook.

My goal is to go in once a week, and I wonder what exiting thing I will come up with for next weeks session.

Going through the Archive!

I was looking through all my photos from 2013, to see which ones I wanted to make a print of, and it made me realize how many great pictures I never showed here.

This one was taken in August at Esrum Sø, and if I remember correctly I was carrying a big ice-cream in the other hand while trying to juggle the camera with the other.

I am longing a bit for summer this moment, maybe because I can't wait for it to come.

Around Zoo!

The other day we took stroll around Zoologischer Garten. It was a sunny day and there is a lot of great both old and modern architecture. It is somehow always nice to go out of your kiez to somewhere, where you don't move around regularly, it always makes me want to photograph everything.

The Nature of LIfe!

Sometimes life feels completely unfair and incomprehensible. A dear friend of mine recently suffered a great loss, that I can't even imagine how must feel.
In times like this I wish I wasn't always divided from the people I love, so I could be there to give comfort and support.

This picture is one of my favorite flower images that I took this spring and I am dedicating this to her to let her know that despite the distance she is in my thoughts all the time.

A Trip To Mitte!

Last week we went for a trip to Prenzlauer Berg and Mitte.
It is always nice to go a bit out of the normal Kiez, see something else, get inspired and take some pictures. I had never been to the old water tower in Prenlauer Berg but it was a really beautiful place. Currently there is a gallery in the old water tank which were the reason for our mission. We went into the dark and cold while the sun was shining outside, and the installed sound piece made me think that I was participating in a horror movie full of suspense.
