Another Year Has Gone Too Fast!

So 2012 is coming to an end, and even without the end of the world.
I don't really remember my goals or expectations for 2012. If I had any? But like so many other years it has been filled with a lot of great moments and things to look back on.
I am in the process of cleaning my computer entirely. New year and a fresh start. I realize that I have over13000 photos in my photo library.  I always take so many photos that I never post or show to anyone else.
So on this last day of the year I wanted to show you a picture for each month that didn't make it to the blog, becuase they didn't fit with the rest of the pictures or I never told that story.

January - and my first visit to south London, I believe that there must be more satellites in this city than Berlin

February - The only time in 2012 where London was really covered in snow.

March - Union Jack cup in the in the window of my school

April - I went to Paris with Vincent where we stayed with his mum in a nice Paris suburb. It almost felt like French countryside. I love fresh laundry hanging outside on a spring day.

May - I was back in school again

June - It was the Queens Jubilee and it felt like the whole Britain went crazy in celebration. I was calebrating my birthday at the same time, so I would like to imagine it was all put on in my honor.

July - Here I am testing my macro lens on a poor deceased bumble bee.

August - Back In Berlin,  I like when people do these little take aways on the street. I didn't take anything I figured someone might be more in need of something than me. Tho maybe I should have gone for the strawberries.

September - From Zoologischer Garden Bahnhof in Berlin

October - I picked up all my boxes and thing that had been stocked away in Big Yellow Storage over the summer.

November - I do think that the withered Hortensia is one of my absolute favorite flowers. I't might seem weird to favor a dead flower over a fresh one, but here in London there are so many of them and  I see them change the whole fall and winter through and it is a beautiful sight.

December - Outside my school on the last day of term. London can be really beautiful when it is in between sun and rain and the buildings get an amazing yellow light. I wont go here until the end of may, so this is somehow a nice thing to remember it by.

I wish all of you a very happy new year and I hope that you will celebrate tonight in which ever way you like, whether it is a big party or staying home watching movies. I as usual when there is something to celebrate have plans to eat a lot of good food.

London City Guide!

Something I have been working on for a while is my London city guide
Since the one I made for Berlin seams to be really useful to people, I thought I would make a list of some of my favorite places in London that I think is worth visiting should you come by.
Most of the places are in the east side of town but I hope you will find it useful anyway. London seams much bigger than Berlin so I guess I stick to my neighborhood and surroundings most of the time. Therefore I have also made a couple of suggestions of how to combine things.
You can find it here or at the sidebar.
Please also note that I recently updated my Berlin City Guide
Enjoy!!!

All Alone!

One of the greatest things about Christmas time in London is that the city is almost emptied of people. On Christmas day there is no public transportation running and it is strange to see the streets without any of the red buses.
We went for a walk to get a bit of exercise before sitting down for another meal and was not met by many people. We even had to climb the fence twice to get out of the park as they had just opened one gate.
It has been raining a lot here and so there are puddles everywhere. Somehow I feel bound to being inside since the air outside is wet and cold.
Now London seems more and more back to normal, and today we shall go for a coffee since shops and cafes have started to open again. Yesterday we went to Tate to see the William Klein/Daido Moriyama photo exhibition. Luckily there weren't too many people, which could have been expected with all the tourists and the shops not being open.

Some other people also climbed the fence to get into the park. They were all wearing red and wished us a Merry Christmas

Home Made!

Pre-Christmas this year I was very busy knitting. I have been eager to show the stuff I did, but since they were suppose to go under the Christmas tree it didn't make sense to show them before after Christmas eve.
I had a lot of fun doing it, even though it took time away from some of the other things I kept myself busy with, but I found out that knitting through a lecture is actually a really great way of getting two things done at the same time.
I really like knitting things like scarves and hats, it is such a nice little project that I don't get tired of before finishing and it also feels good to make stuff for other people than myself. If I had time and space in my wardrobe I think I would knit a nice sweater out of the green yarn, but I think I need to take a knitting break and focus on some other things for a while.

Christmas Dinner For Two!

For me one of the most important thing about Christmas is the food you eat on Christmas eve. This year I wanted to try and prepared a duck because I like the idea of spending a whole day preparing delicious food and then sit down at night and eat it. This doesn't happen that often, in fact maybe only this time a year.
So I got up early to put the duck in the oven and while it was cooking I made all the extras and "risalamande" for dessert. I bought "mandelgaven" in Denmark, which was the HC Andersen fairytale "The Fir Tree". Luckily Vincent got the almond so that the present was a surprise.
One of the other important things is the leftovers. And so yesterday we went for a walk and had leftovers, homemade Chai and "Konfekt" and "Gode Råd".
My father send me two pairs of cards before the holidays so I have been teaching Vincent a game that we have always played on my fathers side of the family.

Merry Christmas!

A couple of more pictures before settling down for Christmas eve. Yesterday we saw Santa waiting for the bus, with his suitcase. Maybe he was going to the North pole?
The Last could of days have been nice. We have been preparing a lot for the Christmas days, and now it feels good to be able to spend a couple of days with good food and wine.
This year we made our own Christmas tree. I couldn't be bothered with a real tree, and this is easy to take down without any mess.
Today I was up early to start the cooking. I just took my first prepared duck out of the owen so now it feels like it is proper Christmas with the hole house smelling of delicious roast.
I wish you all a great night, hope you all spend it with someone you love.

Home Alone A Late Night!

Last night we went to The Screen On The Green to see the late night screening of Home Alone. Yes That Home Alone. The one from 1990.
The Screen on The Green always have a late night screening of an old movie on Saturdays and when I saw they were showing Home Alone I knew I wanted to go and see it. To be honest I was surprised by the turn-up for this as the cinema was almost full. However I see the appeal of going there on a Saturday before going out maybe, as you can have drinks, wine, beer etc for the screening
I can't remember the first time I saw this film, however I remember that being around the same age as Macaulay Culkin it made a huge impression, especially on the invention part.
Browsing through Google today to find some images I asked to myself if the casted him because he is so good at looking terrified.
